ProTube for YouTube App Reviews

The app has me very excited, but I cant access my subscriptions because of a loop thats happening. Every time I select my channel, the page reloads and makes me select my channel again. This loops, is it a bug or am I doing something wrong?

I tried to find a place to email before writing this but when I tried I was warned by safari the site may be a phishing attempt. Everything seemed to work before this last update. Now none of my videos will play.

Ive had this app for quit some time now. I havent used it for awhile but began to use it once 60fps playback was released. Its a very functional app that gets the job done — no other alternative to YouTube is better than this one! My only complaint is the user interface; the official YouTube app is a much simpler and cleaner interface. Other than that, its amazing!

It takes forever to buffer a video for playing. Its always just a black screen with a stupid endless spinning ball in the center! Do not buy!!!

Ive been a first time user of this app and the new bug Ive been experiencing is when I click on the video to watch it will load but it will be stuck on pause and when I click play it just buffers forever

Doesnt add videos to favorite playlist. Cant play certain monetized videos, like music videos

720p airplay to AppleTV works, but not 1080p or higher. Videos play on my iPad, but can only airplay 720p to my AppleTV. I have had this app for many incarnations, back when it was only available on a jailbroken iPhone. Customer service has always been slow, just like update history. :( I cant believe I have paid for this app twice.

Great YouTube app that supports Picture in Picture on iPad so you can watch videos in a small (but resizable) window while you do other stuff. Bonus points: if you pick up the Opener app too (different dev), you can open YouTube links directly in ProTube, no copy pasting required.

I wish I had bought it sooner, Google take notes. This 3rd party app is fast and responsive while your official google app is sluggish and wastes tons of screen space.

I have been using protube for years and I love. Much more stable than the official YouTube app and now with 4K and 60 fps its a better buy than ever. Psst... dev, the subscribed channels page is still not in alphabetical order. That would be nice.

Most of the videos arent loading. "Could not connect to server" and "Try alternative player" are popping up for every video, not letting me watch no matter how strong the wifi connection. This needs to be fixed ASAP, or the app is going to be dropped fast.

ProTube is decent. I use it to watch conference talks and such, but only when my computer is not nearby. If Im going to consume more content through my mobile device, this app must support changing the play speed of videos by at least 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x and 2x as is offered by the YouTube web player. For now Ill use the Swift app for that, but its rather buggy with YouTube content. Frankly, Im surprised Google hasnt already implemented support for play speed tweaks into the YouTube mobile app itself, though if they do, then there will be absolutely no reason for ProTube to be missing such a valuable feature!

Developer always fixes issues quickly. The app works so nicely. Without this I would miss out on hours of entertainment on YouTube because this has no ads, background audio, and selection of video quality.

There are some bugs I have noticed and I hope that the developer(s) look at this to help. -When coming out of landscape sometimes the screen glitches out and you have to re enter and exit n order to fix the bug -When adjusting speed its annoying to get the option you want, a quick select in addition to the slider would be a nice touch -Other minor bugs and glitches but nothing too big Overall ProTube is 100x better than YouTube, especially for background play and a simpler user interface. I recommend this app to all big YouTube fans but if youre a casual viewer who may just look tutorials up or isnt on the app more than twice a week I wouldnt recommend it.

UPDATE 3/10/17 And Chromecast support doesnt work properly, again Once you initially connect it will work fine, but if you put the phone to sleep and come back, the app wont control the Chromecast any more Youll have to disconnect and then reconnect to reestablish control Shame as the app is perfect otherwise, but Chromecast support is the #1 reason I use the app, its unfortunate that it hasnt worked for a few months now UPDATE 1/5/17 Chromecast issues have been fixed, and this app is back to 5 stars for me UPDATE 11/14/16 Unfortunately the developer hasnt fixed the Chromecast white bar issue (despite the latest version claiming it fixed CC problems) Ironically the latest update has added new Chromecast bugs. I can only get the app to play a video if I do it a certain way. If I do not do this golden path to casting a video, it fails and I have to reboot the CC I attempted to speak to the developer about the issue again, but he never responded ------------- Love the app, but theres a major bug when using Chromecast where videos will have a white scroll bar at the bottom of the screen. This doesnt go away under any means I can find, making the otherwise excellent app a non-starter.

Well worth getting. Helps me multitask and do work on my iPad listening to conference / learning videos. Also great for music / concert use.

Most applications would get a major revamp for their 5yr anniversary, but I guess this is all we get. ? At least, add a Dark Mode and Notification Center. ?

This is the best alternative YouTube app out there but it would be even better if the app was a little faster to load and load videos. Sometimes it takes awhile. Keep up the good work!

When its working its fine but as of late I get a lot of videos not loading with the try alternative player instead. Also my What to watch feature keeps loading the same videos all the time, shouldnt this refresh? I am also noticing some videos just stop for no apparent reason. All the above problems seems to have started with the last update.

Having access to channel playlists would be awesome. Great app nonetheless. Seamless use and has every feature you can ask for.
